Alexakis Kotsifali

  • Red
  • 100% Kotsifali

Vinification & Aging

Kotsifali takes its name from the Greek word "kotsifi," a small blackbird known for its fondness for the variety's ripe clusters. While traditionally blended with Mandilaria or Syrah, improved viticultural practices have elevated varietal Kotsifali wines into some of Crete's most compelling reds.

Ecosystems

Grapes are sourced from high-elevation vineyards in the Dafnes PDO, sub-region of Agios Thomas, at 450–550 meters above sea level. At this altitude, Kotsifali's natural vigor is kept in check, allowing flavors to ripen fully while retaining freshness.

Tasting Notes

Attractive, juicy aromas of strawberry and liquorice evolve into sour cherry on the palate. Delicate, ripe tannins are typical of the variety, while bright acidity keeps the wine fresh and easy-drinking. The round, polished body and juicy finish with rich strawberry flavour make it simply irresistible.
